The Dark Room by Sam Blake

The Blurb

Hare’s Landing, West Cork. A house full of mystery…

Rachel Lambert leaves London afraid for her personal safety and determined to uncover the truth behind the sudden death of a homeless man with links to a country house hotel called Hare’s Landing.

New York-based crime reporter Caroline Kelly’s career is threatened by a lawsuit and she needs some thinking space away from her job. But almost as soon as she arrives, Hare’s Landing begins to reveal its own stories – a 30-year-old missing person’s case and the mysterious death of the hotel’s former owner.

As Rachel and Caroline join forces, it becomes clear that their investigations are intertwined – and that there is nothing more dangerous than the truth…

The Review

This is an eerie gothic cosy mystery/thriller. Very atmospheric and full of the spirits of the dead mixed with the lives of the living that you get chills when you’re reading it.

The plot twists are gripping and the narrative is immensely well put together so that it flows seamlessly.

I’d suggest if you’ve anything else to do, you put it aside , get yourself a drink by your side and settle down to read. Then do less important things later as you’re likely to be immersed in the slightly creepy world created in this book for a while! The house, the perfume the characters….perfect winter read.

Thanks to Anne Cater, the Author and publisher for the advanced reading copy of this book.

Hi and welcome to my new blog. I’m reading and reviewing the books I read, after a long break I realised just how much I missed reviewing. I’ve been a voracious reader since childhood and I don’t imagine that changing.
If you would like me to read and review a book you’re bringing out, please feel free to contact me. If it’s not my type of book I won’t waste your time by agreeing. I don’t promise 5 star reviews, and I know authors do appreciate feedback , but I can only promise an honest review.
Genres I love include crime, thriller, tartan noir is a stand out favourite. I do also enjoy horror, and other fiction/non fiction as they take my fancy.
Please feel free to tell me if you have any recommendations for books to read whether they are already out or just about to. Reviews will be published on Twitter and Goodreads. Contact me here on the blog or email me at booksnbanter1@gmail.com
Many thanks
for visiting! Angi
